Facts & figures

The Bauspar system has been internationally successful. It already exists in the following countries:

•    Germany (1885),
•    Austria,
•    Slovakia (1992),
•    Czech Republic (1993),
•    Hungary (1997),
•    Romania (2004),
•    Slovenia,
•    Croatia (1998),
•    Kazakhstan (2003),
•    India (2001) and
•    China (2004).

Luxemburg and Belgium operate their Bauspar system without having implemented a special legal background for it. In Switzerland the Bauspar system is currently used in several cantons.

Several countries already have expressed their interest in the Bauspar system. The Russian Federation, for example, has developed, in cooperation with the Association of Private Bausparkassen and member Bausparkassen, a National Law on Bausparen, which is actually planned to be implemented as soon as possible.
